By train — the easiest way

The high-speed Afrosiyob train runs from Tashkent to Bukhara in about 4 hours and from Samarkand in about 1.5–2 hours. The slower Sharq train is cheaper. Buy tickets in advance on the Uzbekistan Railways website or app — popular trains sell out, especially in spring and autumn.

Important: Bukhara’s railway station is not in the city but in Kagan, about 12–15 km from the old town. A taxi or transfer takes around 20 minutes.

By plane

Bukhara International Airport is only about 5 km from the old town — 15 minutes by car. There are domestic flights from Tashkent and international flights from several cities in Russia, Turkey and other countries.

From Khiva

From Khiva the road crosses the Kyzylkum desert — 6–7 hours by car (about 450 km). You can stop at the desert fortresses of Ayaz-Kala on the way. There is also a train.

From the station or airport to your hostel

The simplest way is to order a pick-up in advance: the driver meets you with a name sign and the price is fixed. We arrange transfers from Kagan station and from the airport — see the prices below.
